We are a diverse, multinational team sharing a common passion for wildlife, conservation, communities and education. Based in Malaysia, we partner in several long term projects which aim to improve captive animal welfare and contribute towards the preservation of endangered species and habitats.

After many years of running our projects through a successful volunteering model, 2010 became the year that we welcomed our first student groups onboard as stakeholders. We strongly believe that by giving students a tangible role in the success of these projects, we can bring about a transformation of attitudes that leads young people down the road to becoming global citizens.

Mark Louis Benedict
Programme Facilitator

Mark is a Naturalist with a deep interest in the flora and fauna of his native state of Sabah in Borneo. He is an expert birder and keen wildlife photographer,  and he loves to share his extensive knowledge about local wildlife with people from all over the World.

Mazrul Mahadzir

Programme Facilitator

Maz has spent many years working closely with orangutans, both in Kuala Lumpur’s Zoo Negara and Matang Wildlife Centre in Borneo. He is an expert in captive animal enrichment and divides his time between student groups and the many adult volunteers who also take part in our projects.

Katie McDonald

Programme Facilitator

Katie is a zoologist with a particular enthusiasm for all things creepy and crawly. She has spent many years in Malaysia, including time spent tracking orangutans in Borneo and work at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.

Anupama Arun

Education Consultant

Anu is an experienced educator and ardent conservationist. Whether teaching students or training teachers, she is constantly looked for ways to link these sessions to local environmental issues. When this resulted in more time spent outdoors than inside the classroom, she decided to solve the problem by designing modules that can only be delivered in natural settings. She now has the joy of working alongside students in rainforests, along rivers, beaches or even while walking with elephants!

Fareea Ma

Director

Having worked for several years in the corporate world and training sector, Fareea has a background in building teams and leading people. She has been a social welfare volunteer since she was in primary school, graduating from pushing wheelchairs to organising conferences and managing other volunteers. Passionate about people and the environment, she is always on the lookout for ways to help develop communities in a way that is sustainable and mutually beneficial.

"We were deeply impressed by the passion and extensive knowledge displayed by the programme facilitators...... they were able to establish a strong rapport with the students and in doing so, helped them to come to a realization of the complexity and interconnectedness of several environmental issues."
